About NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology
Recognized as one of the finest educational institutions in Karnataka, attracting students from all over India and abroad, the Trust has a Medical Sciences Complex at Deralakatte, Mangaluru and two well-developed campuses at Bengaluru. The Trust was started in 1979 and is a pioneer in the field of education. Under the banner of the trust are several institutions which include Nitte University and institutions of higher education like Engineering, Management, Medicine, Dental, Pharmaceuticals, Paramedical, Higher Education and several other schools in Mangalore. There are about 10,000 students and 3500 Employees at NITTE. All the institutions maintained by the Trust have excellent infrastructural facilities such as experienced and dedicated faculty, spacious classrooms, laboratories and libraries.
The campuses have professionally and aesthetically designed buildings, surrounded by gardens making it highly conducive for learning. Each is a self-contained campus with separate hostels for men and women with staff wardens, telephone and Internet facilities, co-operative stores, a post office and a bank. The system of teacher guardianship, wherein a group of students are assigned to a teacher is a unique feature of our institutions. This system helps a teacher attend to each student especially those who are weak academically. Professional campus counselors interact with students having personal, disciplinary or emotional problems.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS (BE)
NMIT offers seven undergraduate professional programs (Bachelor of Engineering – B.E) of 4 years duration. The programs are under the autonomous scheme of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). Programs are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) under the Tier-1 scheme.
The B.E. degree programs have a Choice Based Credit System of 200 credits.

ADMISSION TO B.E.
Admission to B. E is through CET, COMED –K or management quota.
Admission through CET:
Government of Karnataka conducts Common Entrance Test (CET) normally in the month of April every year. Students domiciled in Karnataka can apply for this test and the allotment of the seats is done online. 45% of the seats of the total intake are to be filled through CET. In addition to this, 5% of super numerary quota seats are also made available for the meritorious- economically weaker students with the tuition fee waiver provision. Admission through COMED-K:
Consortium of private colleges of Karnataka conducts this test normally in the month of May every year. Both Karnataka & Non-Karnataka students can appear for this test. 30% of the seats of the total intake are to be filled through COMED-K test. Academic Eligibility for B.E.:
The student should have passed 2nd PUC / 12th standard or equivalent examination with English as one of the languages and obtained 45% of marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Electronics / Biology. In case of candidates belonging to Karnataka Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other Backward Classes (Category I, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.

- Library
The library & information center has a comprehensive collection of books, periodicals, audio/video cd-rooms, e-resources in engineering, basic sciences, management and general subjects to cater the needs of faculty members, research scholars, staff, and students. Every Department has its own Departmental Library. It also housed a digital library which has 40 computers with internet facility. The Library has a collection of 48,600 books in various disciplines, 130 print journals, and several online subscribed journals.
- Hostel
NMIT provides in-campus hostels for both boys and girls. Twin sharing rooms are available for 1st-year students. Second year onwards boys may opt for twin sharing or four sharing rooms. The hostel has amenities such as TV rooms, reading room, 24 hours medical emergency service van, co-operative stationary stores and many more.
