Symbiosis is a Greek term meaning ‘Living together for the mutual benefit of each other.’ Symbiosis is an educational and cultural center of international standards established in 1971, under the patronage of Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, President & Founder Director.It is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950.
Symbiosis Law School, Pune established in June 1977, was earlier affiliated to the University of Pune and later became a constituent of Symbiosis International University in 2002, with an enhanced degree of autonomy in teaching, learning and research.

Amongst a host of outstanding institutions under Symbiosis International University offering various courses Symbiosis Law School, Pune stands tall with the India Today Nelson Survey ranking the institute among the top 10 law schools of India in 2013 and the Bar Council of India conferring it with the Gold-star Award in 2013.
In a journey of 38 years, Symbiosis Law School, Pune has achieved various milestones in teaching, learning and research. It is the first law college in Pune to offer evening law programs and is one of the pioneers of the five year law program. Its innovative and creative educational experiments have set it apart from other law colleges in the city and the region. Symbiosis Law School, Pune has the honour of being a core partner in the global network of legal institutes of the Erasmus Mundus consortium. It has also been selected by the Government of India, Ministry of Social Welfare for awarding scholarships to SC & ST students. SLS, Pune also has collaborations with various bodies and renowned national and international educational institutions.

Qualification:
The candidate should have passed XII (10+2) examination from any recognized Board with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for S.C. /S.T. candidates). Students who have appeared for their Standard XII final examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply, subject to submission of passing certificate at the time of the final admission.
INTAKE:
Note: It is suggested that the candidates who have studied Arts/Social Sciences subjects for their qualifying examination may apply for B.A. LL.B (Hons.) programme. Similarly, those candidates who have studied Commerce/Accounts/Mathematics/Sciences may apply for BB.A LL.B (Hons.) programme. Further, the candidates are also free to make their own choice of selection of the programme depending on their ability, interest and opportunity. Please note that these two programmes differ only in the First Degree contents (either Humanities OR Business Administration), whereas the law courses offered in both the programmes are the same. Graduates in both streams are eligible for diverse legal careers and opportunities in Corporate, Litigation, Civil Services, Advocacy, Judiciary, Academics, jobs in International Organizations, International Admissions and others.
The library is comprises a vast collection of around 63041 books, 140 journals and 6845 e-journals, numerous other periodicals and magazines. It provides source for legal research for faculty as well as the students. It also provides extensive technology based learning resources with 17 legal databases including Manupatra, SCC Online Web-edition, LexisNexis, Hein Online, Westlaw, JSTOR, EBSCO, Kluwer-Arbitration, Patents and Competition, Legal Sutra, World News Paper, Cambridge Online Books, CLA, Taxmann and Index to Legal Periodicals, LII Of India & Emerald.
