Jadavpur University in Kolkata is State Government sponsored University under UGC.
Established in 1905 Jadavpur University is one of the oldest educational institutions in India. Jadavpur University Kolkata was previously known as College of Engineering and Technology, Bengal.After Independence, the Government of West Bengal, with the concurrence of the Government of India, enacted the necessary legislation to establish Jadavpur University on the 24th of December 1955.
As per NIRF ranking 2020 Jadavpur University ranking in India is 17th among all Engineering institutions in India. In 2018 Jadavpur University ranking in India was 12th and In 2019 NIRF Ranking Jadavpur University came further down to 14.
Jadavpur University of Kolkata features among top 651 to 700 rank in QS world university rankings in 2021.
Jadavpur University also has student exchange program with Momoyama Gaukin University, Japan.

Jadavpur University teaches Engineering, Science and Arts subjects in a lush green campus.
In the Engineering Department B.Tech. Program is of four years duration. In total 16 programs are offered and each year the intake capacity at Jadavpur University is around 958 only .

Eligibility For Admission
The eligibility for admission in B.Tech course in Jadavpur University is 60% marks in aggregate in Higher secondary or (10+2) Examination from recognised board Council with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combination. The individual cutoff for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is 60%.The minimum cut off score for English is 30%. For reserved category candidates the marks cutoff in Higher secondary or (10+2) Examination has been lowered to 45%.
The tuition fee for all the B tech courses at Jadavpur University is Rupees 2400/- (Two Thousands Four Hundred only) per annum except for BTech IT course. The tuition fees for B.Tech. IT course is Rupees 30000 (Thirty Thousands) per annum.
Separate hostel facility is available for boys and girls in Jadavpur University for students.
Hostel fees during admission is Rupees 3000 (Three Thousands only). The monthly rent and electricity charge is Rupees 10 (Ten) and Rupees 15 (Fifteen) per month respectively
During the admission the candidate has to fulfil domicile criteria that candidate must be residing in West Bengal continuously at least for at least 10 years or the parents of the applicants should be the permanent residence of West Bengal having permanent address within the state of West Bengal in order to become eligible for domicile criteria.
There is also a tuition fee waiver scheme by the government of West Bengal for BTech students at Jadavpur University. The waiver is on tuition fees only and the student must apply through TFW quota.
Jadavpur University also offers scholarship on tuition fees for its BTech students on Recommendation of the Head of departments of Engineering division.
