Indian Institutes of Information Technology known as IIITs  are basically a group of 26 interdisciplinary technology based engineering research institutions in India which are focused on information technology. In India there are 26 IIITs out of which 5 are listed as the Institutes of National Importance & funded & managed by Ministry of Education & the remaining 21 IIITs are set up on Public Private Partnership(PPP) model funded by Central Government, State Governments & Industry Partner in the ratio of 50:35:15.The IIITs are interdisciplinary autonomous institutions offering technology based education focussing on Information Technology and Communication Studies. IIITs are considered as top engineering colleges in India & gained popularity among students after the IITs and NITs.
