JEE MAIN 2026 : NTA has scheduled JEE MAIN 2026, It will be conducted in 2 phases. 1st Phase will be held from 21st January 2026 till 30th January 2026 (Except 26th January 2026). 2nd Phase will be held from 2nd April 2026 till 9th April 2026.
JEE Main Application Forms for 1st Phase/Attempt will be available from November October 31st, 2025 till November 27th, 2025. Candidates can apply online at jeemain.nta.nic.in. For Phase/Attempt 2, NTA will re-open JEE Main Registration from Last Week Of January,2026
JEE Main candidates will get only 2 chances to score well in JEE Main exam.
Latest Changes in JEE MAIN 2026 :
- Eligibility Criteria – The candidates who have passed the class XII / equivalent Examination in 2024, 2025 or appearing in 2026 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) – 2026 Examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institute(s) to which they are desirous of taking admission.
- Age Limit – For appearing in the JEE (Main) – 2026, there is no age limit for the candidates.
- Number of Attempts in JEE Main : Any candidate can appear in JEE Main Exam in 3 consecutive exams from the year of passing Class 12.
- Changes in JEE Main Application Form – Annual Family Income has been made mandatory field in JEE Main Application Form
- JEE MAIN 2026 marking scheme Revised – In JEE MAIN 2026 there will be a negative marking in both MCQs and numerical value answer. 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- JEE Main Score Card on Mobile– Candidates can now download their JEE Main Result pdf on the registered mobile number.
- What is JEE Main exam? –The Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main) comprises of two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and Institutions / Universities funded / recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. JEE (Main) Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the country. JEE Main is also an eligibility test for admission in IITs through JEE Advanced. JEE Main Paper 1 is conducted for admission to B.E./B.Tech programs and Paper 2 is held for admission to B.Arch & B.Planning courses.
No new changes have been made in JEE MAIN 2026 Syllabus. It will include topics from Class 11 and 12 NCERT books. With a 30% reduction in CBSE syllabus for Class 11 & 12, last year, NTA has provided internal choices in the question paper

JEE MAIN 2026 Application Form
You can register for JEE MAIN 2026 online. The applications for JEE MAIN 2026 have been released on November 1, 2026. Valid contact number and email address, credentials and other personal information, payment information, scanned photograph with name and date and scanned signature on a white page within the 3.5 x 1.5 cm box size are all needed. Since no form correction facility will be provided, candidates are advised to fill JEE MAIN 2026 Application Form very carefully.
NTA has upgraded JEE MAIN 2026 Application Form. Candidates can apply for JEE MAIN 2026 in three simple steps- Register Online, Fill Application Form and Pay Application Fee. To fill JEE MAIN 2026 Application Form candidates can follow the below-mentioned steps-
- To apply for the JEE Main Exam 2026, go to the page “Apply for JEE Main Exam 2026.”
- Fill in the necessary information, such as exam-related information, medical, mailing, academic, and Guardian information, among other things.
- One by one, upload the scanned images according to the guidelines.
- Pay the application fee using a debit/credit card or an e-challan Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI. Processing charges and GST as applicable are chargeable to the candidate (in addition to the examination fee) by the concerned Bank/Payment Gateway Integrator.
- NTA has made the annual family income as a mandatory field in JEE MAIN 2026 Application Form.
- Candidates have also been given an option to add their AADHAR Number in the application form.
- Once the candidate has successfully filled JEE MAIN 2026 Application Form, the confirmation page will be sent to the registered email of the candidate.

JEE Main Form Correction
- As a recent change, NTA will no longer provide candidates with JEE Main Form Correction window to make corrections to their submitted application forms.
- Applicants are therefore advised to upload all the required documents and fill JEE MAIN 2026 Application Form with utmost accuracy.

JEE MAIN 2026 Eligibility Criteria
NTA has released the eligibility criteria for JEE MAIN 2026. Candidates can check here the eligibility criteria prescribed by the NTA required for appearing in the exam. It is necessary that all candidates ensure their eligibility before applying for the exam failing which their candidature will get cancelled. Full details about the JEE MAIN 2026 eligibility criteria can be checked from the information brochure.
Candidates not fulfilling the basic eligibility criteria will not be eligible to apply and their candidature can be cancelled anytime during the admission process. Thus, it is advised to every candidate to ensure they fulfil all the conditions of eligibility before filling the application form :

JEE MAIN 2026 Admit Card
NTA will release JEE Main admit card in the second week of April for the first attempt exam. Admit cards will be available online on the official website. For downloading the admit card, candidates will be required to log in using their application form number and password. Only those candidates who fill the application form within the specified last date will be issued JEE Main admit card 2026 by the NTA. Admit card is essential for appearing in the exam, without which no candidate will be allowed to take the test.
Details about JEE Main exam date and time, address of the exam centre, basic candidate details like name, photo, signature, and details of paper for which appearing will be mentioned in the admit card. Candidates need to download and take the printout of their JEE MAIN 2026 admit card.

JEE MAIN 2026 Exam Centres
The NTA has announced exam cities for JEE MAIN 2026. The total number of exam cities in India are 399 & 25 cities outside India for JEE Mains 2026. Candidates have to fill out four choices of their preferred exam cities at the time of filling JEE Main application form. Candidates will be allotted one exam city out of the four options in which candidates have to appear in the exam. Following are a few details related to JEE Main Exam Centres 2026.
- Candidates will see the list of exam cities for filling in the form according to the address mentioned at the time of registration.
- Candidates have to select any four cities of their choice as test centre preference while applying for JEE MAIN 2026. NTA will allot a city out of four options.
- The allotted exam centre/city will be mentioned on the JEE MAIN 2026 admit card. To check the exam city allotted to them, candidates will need their login details along with JEE MAIN 2026 application number and date of birth.
- Please note that the decision of the NTA regarding the allotment of centre, date, and shift will be final. No correspondence or request will be entertained in such a case.
JEE Main Question Papers 2026
Previous year’s JEE Main question papers are a great source of information about the exam. They explain the weightage of topics covered in the exam and also the difficulty level of the exam. Students preparing for JEE MAIN 2026 are advised to practice the previous year’s question papers for at least 10 years. This will help students in understanding the various aspects of the exam like which topics are asked regularly in exams, what is the difficulty level of the paper among others. JEE Main previous year papers also serve the purpose of mock tests and sample papers. Students should also solve JEE Main sample papers regularly to know their preparation level for the exam. JEE MAIN 2026 Answer Key
The answer key of JEE MAIN 2026 will be released by the NTA within a few days of the conclusion of the exam. As the exam will be held in multiple sessions, NTA will release the answer key separately for all sessions after the exam. JEE MAIN 2026 answer key will be available online on the official website. Correct answers to all the questions asked in JEE MAIN 2026 paper will be provided in the answer key. Along with the answer key, NTA will also release a candidate response sheet. Candidates will be required to log in using their application form number and password/date of birth for checking the answer key.
The NTA will first release the provisional JEE Main answer key that will be open for challenges. Candidates having objections to any answer in the provisional JEE Main answer key can challenge it online from the official website. The NTA will review the challenges and then release the final answer key. The JEE Main final answer key is unchallengeable and is final in all respect. The result of JEE Main is calculated using the final answer key.
JEE Main Result 2026
The NTA will release JEE MAIN 2026 result online separately for all sessions. The final result will be declared after JEE Main session 2 exam and will have details of the candidate’s All India Rank and JEE Main cut-off.
To check the JEE Main result, candidates will have to log in on the official website using their application form number and password/date of birth. Details about the percentile score of subjects and aggregate percentile score will be mentioned in the result. Candidates have to download and take a printout of their scorecard as it is required at the time of the counselling and admission process.

JEE Main Cutoff
The NTA will announce JEE MAIN 2026 cutoff along with the announcement of session 2 results. JEE Main cutoff is the minimum percentile score that candidates have to score to qualify for appearing in JEE Advanced. JEE Main cutoff will be different for various categories.
Candidates must note that there are NO minimum marks or cutoffs which students need to obtain for passing JEE Main exam. The score that candidates get in JEE Main decides the All India Rank and admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs is purely based on the All India Rank. The JEE Main cutoff is only for appearing in JEE Advanced.

JEE Main Counselling 2026
The counselling process for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs is organised by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Candidates who will appear in JEE MAIN 2026 and obtain a score have to register for JoSAA counselling for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Candidates who appear in JEE Advanced also need to register for JoSAA 2023 counselling for admission to IIITs. The process of registration is done online and the allotment of seats is based on the All India Rank of candidates. Candidates can check here the participating institutes of JoSAA 2023 counselling.
JEE Main Participating Institutes
The participating institutes of JEE Main are the colleges that participate in the JoSAA counselling for admission in various Engineering, Architecture and Planning courses. Besides JEE Main participating institutes, many colleges offer admission based on the scores of JEE Main but are not a part of JoSAA. Such institutes organise their counselling process for admission.
There are a total of 32 NITs, 23 IIITs and 32 other GFTIs that participate in JoSAA counselling. The number of seats in these institutes can be checked below. Other institutes which offer admission based on JEE Main scores are from the states which do not conduct their entrance exams for engineering admission and include U.P., Bihar, M.P., Delhi, among others.
