In 1983 IMI was established in Delhi. It was an initiative of joint collaboration between International Management Institute, Geneva now known as IMD Lausanne and IMI, Delhi.
In 1993, IMI Delhi received approval from All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HR, Government of India. IMI Delhi since then started offering 2 years full time AICTE Approved Regular PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management)Programme.
IMI is corporate run Business School. The Institution is run by RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. Shri Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman of RP Goenka Group is the chairman of IMI Board of Governors.
In 2010 IMI Kolkata Campus was established. 2 years AICTE Approved PGDM Course was offered from IMI Kolkata Campus. Soon in 2011 IMI opened the Bhubaneswar campus and started offering the Two year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management(PGDM)

IMI Admission Process
Eligibility Criteria
For admission in PGDM Program in IMI, Candidates must complete Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (10+2+3) from UGC recognised university. Candidates appearing in final year Graduation Examination can also apply.
Applicant can be from any stream like Engineering, Humanities, Commerce, Economics, Medicine or any other branch. Candidate with relevant work experience is preferred.
Entrance Test Score
Candidates must appear in CAT (Common Admission Test) or XAT (Xavier’s Aptitude Test) or GMAT Examination.
Selection Process
Final Selection of Candidates will be based on personal assessment of the candidates.

Shortlisting of the candidates are done by

- Past Academic Performance
Shortlisted candidates are called for the final round of interview process for which Individual Assessment will be done.
Essay Writing and Personal Interview will be combined in Personal Assessment round.This round is held in the month of March.

IMI library has a collection of 25660 books on various study topics of economics, management, current affairs, commerce, behavioral sciences and many other topics of interest. It has subscribed to 6779 periodical titles and national/ international newspapers. Most Journals are available electronically through the Business Source Complete [EBSCO], SAGE, ScienceDirect, JSTOR, INFORMS, and Emerald databases.
