JoSAA ie The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2021 was set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 114 institutes for the academic year 2021-22 which includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 33 Other Government Funded Technical Institutes ie Other GFTIs. Admission to all these institutes for their academic programs offered by these Institutes are done through a single online platform.
JEE Main Counselling 2021
JoSAA ie Joint Seat Allocation Authority is the main organising body who is conducting the JEE Main 2021 counselling process. JoSAA releases all information on their website has released the 1st mock seat allotment result on October 22 on its official website ie https://josaa.nic.in.
JEE Main Counselling Eligibility
Candidates who qualify on the basis of JEE Main result 2021 need to apply for online counselling in order to get admission in NITs, IITs or GFTIs . The registrations for JEE Main counselling 2021 is open from 16th October,2021 to 25th October,2021.
Students appearing JEE Main Exam & one the merit lists are published they have to attend JEE Main counselling process organised by JoSAA which include many steps such as registration, choice filling, locking of choices, seat allotment, and payment of seat acceptance fee. JEE Main 2021 counselling process consists of 6 rounds & conducts two rounds of mock seat allotment of JEE Main before the actual six rounds of JEE Main counselling 2021 to help students understand the process.

JEE Main Counselling 2021 – Process
The most common question in our mind is how jee main counselling is done. Students who are participating in JEE Main counselling have to go through various steps starting from registration to choice filling among others. The detailed of the online counselling step by step procedure or process involved in JEE Main counselling 2021 to help students know the detailed process.
Step 1 – JEE Main Counselling Registration : Candidates have to register themselves on the official JoSAA website 2021 ie https://josaa.nic.in. Students have to use their JEE Main Application Form number & password in order to log in to the JoSAA candidate portal .Once successful login is done, the software automatically fetches the data from JEE Mains 2021 database.The students are required to verify all the details before completing the registration.
Step 2 – Choice Filling : Once the registration is done the candidates will have to fill in their choice of institutes and courses as per their priority. Students can select as many choices as they want which increases the chances of admission.
Step 3 – Mock Seat Allotment and thereby locking of choices : This round is often known as jee mains mock counselling. The JoSAA authorities will also conduct two mock seat allocations to help candidates know their chances of getting a seat into the desired institutes. The mock seat allotment process helps the candidates to understand which seat can be allotted to them as per their choice filling & how to take the fullest advantage on the basis of their preference list. Candidates can change their preferences once they come to know their chances after mock allotment.
Step 4 – Final Seat Allotment : JoSAA will conduct a total of six rounds of seat allotment. The JoSAA seat allotment process are done on the basis of merit, category, selected preferences and availability of seats. All candidates have to pay for the provisional seat allotment if they are allocated any seat & then the candidates will be able to download the provisional seat allotment letter.
What are the options available after JEE Seat Allotment ?

Every candidate will have 3 options available once they get any seat allotment :
- Freeze –If any candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat and do not wish to participate in the further rounds of online counselling.
- Float – If any candidate is satisfied with the seat allotment but would like to be considered for other institute as per choice list during the future rounds of seat allocation.
- Slide – If any candidate has accepted the seat allotted but is also open for admission into a higher preferred course in the same institute.
Step 5- Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee : Candidates who will be allotted seats will have to pay the seat acceptance fee online through net banking. Please note that the seat acceptance fee will vary depending upon the category of the candidate.After accepting the seat, candidates will have to upload the required documents.
