MAT Exam

MAT -Management Aptitude Test

MAT is a standardised test being administered since 1988. It is conducted by All India Management Association. The purpose is to facilitate  admission process Business Schools (B-Schools) for MBA and allied programmes. In 2003 MAT has been recognised by Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD as a national level test. More than  600 B-Schools accept MAT as a selection criteria while screening MBA applicants.

MAT Full Form

 Full form of MAT is Management Aptitude Test.  MAT Score is accepted by Institutes for considering admission of candidates for Post Graduate Degree / Diploma programmes, subject to specific cut-off marks and other admission parameters.

MAT Eligibility Criteria

Graduates from Any Discipline can Apply for MAT. There is no age limit. No minimum marks cutoff in graduation has been announced by MAT Administering Authority.

How to take Management Aptitude Test

MAT is considered often as All India Management aptitude test. AIMA (All India Management Association) has given flexibility to MAT applicants to choose from various modes of appearing in MAT Examination.

(i) Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) or

(ii) Double Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) or

(iii) Paper Based Test (PBT) or

(iv) Paper Based Test and Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (PBT+IBT) or

(v) Computer Based Test (CBT) or

(vi) Computer Based Test and Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (CBT+IBT)

(viii) Paper Based Test and Computer Based Test (PBT+CBT)

(ix) Double Computer Based Test (CBT+CBT)

MAT 2022 Test Pattern

Paper Based Test (PBT)

The candidate must download the MAT admit card and shall reach the test centre mentioned on downloaded MAT admit card on the PBT Date at stipulated time.  The candidate will be provided a sealed MAT Question Booklet and an OMR Answer Sheet. Candidate is asked not to open the MAT Question Booklet until announced. Candidate is required to fill the necessary information in the space provided on the cover of the MAT Question Booklet and the Answer Sheet before commencement of the test. The candidates are  also asked to sign the attendance sheet during the test duly endorsing the MAT Question Booklet Series as given on the MAT Question Booklet and other details.

Computer Based Test (CBT)

The candidate needs to do the MAT admit card and shall reach the test centre mentioned on downloaded MAT admit card on the CBT Date at stipulated time slot. Computer Based Test means the candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the computer monitor .The candidate submits the answers through the use of keyboard or mouse. Each

computer is connected to a server, which prepares the MAT question set and records choice made by the candidate on the computer.

Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT)

The option of taking MAT using the ‘Remote Proctored Internet Based Test’ (IBT) mode has been recently introduced by AIMA. MAT IBT is Powered By AI And Live Proctoring.Applicants have flexibility to choose slots and they can appear in MAT from home only. The requirement is a computer fitted with camera and Internet connection. AIMA also conducts mock tests to familiarise with MAT-IBT.

Candidate can opt for MAT in the following modes

  • 2 IBT
  • PBT+IBT
  • CBT+IBT
  • PBT+CBT
  • 2 CBT tests.

MAT EXAM 2022 Fees

MAT Examination fees details are given below:

 For MAT-CBT : INR 1650/- For MAT-PBT : INR 1650/- For MAT IBT : INR 1650/- For Both/Double IBT/PBT & IBT : INR 2750/- 

Application Fee For Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) or Paper Based Test (PBT) or Computer Based Test (CBT) is Rs. 1650/-(One Thousand Six Hundred Fifty Only)

Application Fee For Double Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) or PBT+IBT or CBT+IBT or PBT+CBT or CBT+CBT is Rs. 2750/- (Two Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Only)

Candidate can apply online for MAT Exam by clicking :  https://mat.aima.in/

Applicant can log in to the website. Registration Fee can be paid with Credit Card/Debit Card (ATM Card), Net Banking, UPI or Paytm Wallet.

Documents Required for MAT Application

MAT February 2022 is completely online. Following are the requirements to fill up MAT Application form.

  1. Valid Email Id

Applicant must have a valid email id with password. The email will be used for further communication with AIMA.

  1. Scanned image of photograph (10 to 50 kb)

Applicant must upload a scanned image of size between 10kb to 50 kb preferably in .JPG Format during MAT Application.

  1. Scanned image of signature ( 5 to 20 kb)

Applicant must upload a scanned image of signature (In English done on white paper) between 5 kb to 20 kb preferably in .JPG Format during MAT Application

  1. Credit Card/Debit Card (ATM Card) or Net Banking details

To pay MAT Registration Fee, candidate must make Credit Card/Debit Card (ATM Card) ready.Requisite amount of fees can also be paid through Netbanking option available with the applicant.

MAT Admit Card Download

MAT registered candidates for IBT/PBT/CBT can download their Admit Card from  AIMA website  as per the schedule.

MAT Admit Card contains details of the Candidate like Name, Form No, Roll No, Test Date, Test Time and Test Venue Address. Candidate has to note the test date and reporting time allotted to him/her in the admit card.

List of Management Institutes accepting MAT Score

While applying for MAT Online, candidates can Select the institutes enlisted under MAT. Candidates can choose their preferred institute based on regions of India they want to study. (North /South/East /West)where they want their MAT Scores to be sent for admission. Candidates can also make their choice list based on Programmes they want to study (PGDM/MBA/MHA).

Candidates must check the approval/recognition status of various programs directly from the concerned Authorities/ Institutes/ Universities.
